U.S. International Trade Comission Rules in Favour of Fabricated Structural Steel Trade Case
On February 4, 2019, the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) initiated an anti-dumping (AD) and subsidy (CVD) trade case on imports of fabricated structural steel (FSS) from Canada, Mexico and China into the United States.
The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has since voted in favour to proceed with a full investigation. The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) will now commence its detailed investigation of all countries named and will be reporting back to the ITC for the final determination.

Federal Government Invests $100MM in Funding for Canadian SME Steel & Aluminum Manufacturers
On March 11, 2019, the Government of Canada announced the launch of the Regional Economic Growth through Innovation Steel and Aluminum Initiative.This new Initiative will provide $100 million in non-repayable contributions to SMEs within Canadian steel and aluminum supply chains for investments in innovative projects that will enhance productivity and/or competitiveness.
Contributions will range from $150,000 to $1 million, to support up to a maximum of 45 percent of eligible project costs.
