Ontario College of Trades – Member Newsletter
This message is the beginning of regular communications and outreach to our members. We want to update you on the College’s activities and also hear from you about how we can improve the work and impact of the College. You can send me your comments and feedback at: CEO@collegeoftrades.ca.
As the new Registrar and CEO of the Ontario College of Trades (College), I have spent the last six months getting to know the business of the College, our staff, our members as well as other stakeholder groups across Ontario. Since it was established, the College has made some advances as a unique professional body with a mandate to protect the public and promote trades in Ontario.
Ontario College of Trades observes Day of Mourning
The College joins many from across Ontario, Canada and the globe in recognizing the Day of Mourning — a day to commemorate workers who have been injured, disabled or lost their lives at their place of work or from exposures inherent to their occupation.
Compliance & enforcement ramps up for 2018
The College is launching enhanced efforts to protect the public and its members through strategic compliance and enforcement inspections in the construction sector to coincide with the start of increased building and renovation activity during the spring and summer months.
New regulation will help retain trade board members
Recognizing the significance of trade boards and the roster of adjudicators to the College governing structure, the Minister of Labour has moved forward to ensure that numerous members can, if they wish, continue to provide their valuable service beyond the normally mandated timeline.
