MOL Seeks Stakeholder Consultation

2-Minute News |December 2014

Annually, the Ministry of Labour consults with the public to discuss a variety of topics, including proposed legislative amendments, implementation of new programs/services and strategic discussions on how the system can focus its efforts to reduce occupational illness and injury in Ontario.

Since 2008, the Ministry of Labour’s Occupational Health and Safety Branch has been meeting with the public to obtain feedback and insights on how it can improve its enforcement efforts, including the development of new tools and resources, identification of firms and hazards, and blitz topics.

More recently, these Safe at Work Ontario strategic consultations have included the Prevention Division at the Ministry of Labour and the Health and Safety Associations to discuss how the system can deliver on the priorities set out in the Healthy and Safe Workplaces strategy.

In early 2015, the Ministry of Labour as well as the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association will again be meeting with the public to discuss:

  • high hazards
  • small business
  • vulnerable workers
  • workplace culture.

If you are interested in learning more about these Safe at Work Ontario sessions, please email the Ministry. You can also read the stakeholder invitation which includes dates for several upcoming consultation sessions.
