Announcement of Tariffs on Steel/Annonce des tarif en acier
Dear Members & Associates,
As you have probably heard, the US has imposed a 25% tariff on Canadian steel imports today. These import tariffs apply only to raw steel entering the U.S. from Canada. The tariffs do not apply to fabricated or manufactured steel components.
This trade action on raw steel is not expected to have any major impact to Canadian fabricators or to steel construction projects.
The Canadian Steel Producers Association (CSPA), as the voice for the Canadian steel producers will be taking the lead to protect its members against these tariffs. The CISC will provide CSPA with any assistance we can to support their efforts.
The CISC will continue to monitor the situation and provide further information should conditions change.

Comme vous l’avez probablement déjà entendu, aujourd‘hui, les États-Unis ont imposé des tarifs douaniers de 25% sur les importations canadiennes d’acier. Ces tarifs d’importation s’appliquent uniquement à l’acier brut entrant aux États-Unis en provenance du Canada. Les tarifs ne s’appliquent pas aux composants en acier fabriqués ou usinés.
Cette action commerciale sur l’acier brut ne devrait pas avoir d’impact majeur sur les fabricants canadiens ni sur les projets de construction en acier.
L’Association canadienne des producteurs d’acier (ACPA), en tant que porte-parole des producteurs d’acier canadiens, prendra l’initiative de protéger ses membres contre ces tarifs. L‘ICCA fournira à l’ACPA toute l’aide possible pour soutenir leurs efforts.
L‘ICCA continuera de surveiller la situation et fournira de plus amples renseignements si les conditions changent.
