Call For Proposals: Occupational Health And Safety And Innovation Program
The ministry is seeking applications for the 2016-2017 Occupational Health and Safety Prevention and Innovation Program. The program aims to support innovative projects and collaborative partnerships that lead to improvements in occupational health and safety in Ontario. The program is open to all eligible organizations, and will provide funding of up to $200,000 per proposal to successful applicants.
Safety Blitz Targets Material Handling
For the second year in a row, the ministry is focusing on hazards involving material handling during a safety blitz across the province this fall. From Sept. 14 to Oct. 23, 2015, ministry inspectors are visiting retail outlets, wholesalers, plants, factories and other industrial sector workplaces. The blitz will includes a focus on manual material handling in support of Global Ergonomics Month in October.

The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board has launched a quarterly e-newsletter entitled WSIB@WORK. The e-newsletter contains news, updates and stories from the agency, which administers compensation and no-fault insurance for Ontario workplaces. Amendments To The Mines And Mining Plants Regulation
Several amendments to Regulation 854 (Mines and Mining Plants) have been approved, part of the government’s commitment to worker health and safety in Ontario mines. The amendments will strengthen electric safety protections for workers, improve requirements for high visibility clothing, and update Materials Testing Lab fees for wire rope testing.
Labour Relations Conference In Barrie
