Ontario Erectors Association

It’s our job at the Ontario Erectors Association to be a dedicated representative and a strong voice for our community of contractors and unionized Ironworkers.

For nearly 75 years, we have been an advocate for our members and a champion of the unrivaled merits of employing unionized Ironworkers. Our long history of connection between contractors and professional Ironworkers has helped to build cities, change landscapes, and advance an essential building trade.

We are the best at what we do – we advocate tirelessly for our members and for the benefits of employing professional Ironworkers. The workforce we represent is superbly trained, adheres to strict safety standards and is dedicated to outstanding workmanship. They have earned the right to be selected for projects ahead of others.

We represent our members with integrity, commitment and focus. We serve on advisory boards, ensure and seek to improve stringent health and safety measures, and take the utmost care to safeguard pension interests. We work closely with the Council of Ontario Construction Association (COCA), the Government of Ontario, and the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA). We negotiate effective solutions, and campaign for the employment of our union workers over non-union staff.

We do all that we can to advance the OEA Built to Last ideal, in every way possible.

Building for the Future

Our members understand the vital importance of building for the long term. That’s why we continually invest back into our industry, to strengthen resources and foster the next generation of Ironworkers.

Through our partnership with IMPACT, we make a significant financial commitment to programs that advance recruitment, enhance training, bolster apprenticeships, improve safety measures and promote specialized skills. Such dedication to strength from within ensures the long-term trust of industry partners and makes certain that our union Ironworkers will always be the best, most reliable professionals for the job.

Collaborative Action

Our member contractors share in a long, strong and proud tradition wherever they operate, and it’s our responsibility to uphold those high standards of collaborative action and workmanship in our profession. The OEA believes that solidifying the ties between industry professionals and union partners is to the benefit of everyone involved. That emphasis on cooperation and partnership is how our industry distinguishes itself and is a key reason why we have not undergone a strike action since 1967.
